Scott Ward came to Greeley and the University of Northern
Colorado as assistant media relations director in spring 2008 after
serving for nearly three years as assistant sports editor with Sun
Newspapers in Kansas City, Mo.
At the Sun, Ward worked alongside a staff of five writers in the
production of multi-award-winning sports sections for six weekly
community newspapers. Prior to his time with the Sun, Ward worked
as an assistant statistics editor at The Kansas City Star and as a
copy editor and page designer at the Columbia Missourian in
Columbia, Mo.
Ward serves Northern Colorado as the main media contact for the
Bears' volleyball, men's basketball, softball and men's and women's
tennis programs, while filling in as the secondary contact for
Northern Colorado's other 12 athletics programs.
In this role, he produces game notes, leads the game-day stat
crew team and provides Web site coverage for volleyball, men's
basketball and softball. He also produces various other
publications for the Bears, including Northern Colorado's
completely revamped Athletics Recruiting Guide and other
promotional posters and game-day items.
Ward graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism in 2004
from the Missouri School of Journalism, one of the finest
journalism institutions in the world. He and his wife, Sarah, a
second-grade teacher in Windsor, Colo., live in Evans, Colo.
