Track & Field Competes In Final Tuneup Before Conference![]() COMPLETE RESULTS: Ram Open FORT COLLINS, Colo. - In the final tuneup before the Big Sky Conference Championships, the Northern Colorado men's and women's track & field teams were at Colorado State for the Ram Open on Saturday afternoon. Junior transfer Garrett Kidd finished second overall and was the top collegian in the 100 meters, clocking a 10.85. In the 200, Tyler Hoerner finished fourth with a time of 21.66 for a season-best time and place him among the top 10 in the Big Sky Conference this season. Dan Larson, Travis Stanford, Alex Schneider and Marty Wittmer finished fifth through eighth in the 400 meters, while Cody Harper clocked a 1:58.78 to place fourth in the 800. The quartet of Kidd, Tyler Short, Hoerner and Terrence McGaughy finished second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.42 for the fastest time of the season for a Bears' team, which places them fourth in the Big Sky rankings. In the 100 meter hurdles, senior Tali Slafter and freshman Kelly Coomes finished fourth and fifth, respectively in 14.47 and 14.67. Abby Weedor finished second in a photo finish in the 100 meters, clocking a 12.16 to tie her season best time. Jillian Hoblitt and Shannon Hageman, typically longer distance runners, ran the 200 meters finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Lisa Drew led a quartet of Bears in the 400 meters, finishing third in 59.24. Keira Moczulski, Kayla Contreras and Jacqueline Lomax finished fourth through sixth, respectively. Lauren Iseman finished third in the 800 meters after timing in at 2:20.39. Nicole Larson won the 5000 meters and led a trio of Bears. She clocked a 20:27.23 for the title, while Rachel Forrest finished second in 20:42.67 and Erin Apsey ran a 22:00.93 for third place. The quartet of Shaylee Robinette, Justine Sandersfeld, Coomes and Weedor were the only entrants in the 4x100 relay, finishing in 50.68. Junior Rachael Stevens finished second in the high jump, clearing 5-7, while Meaghan Green finished sixth in the shot put and hammer and seventh in the discus. Next week the Bears compete in the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by the University of Montana in Missoula. A list of Northern Colorado qualifiers follows. Men Women |
