Stevens Advances To NCAA Championship

GREELEY, Colo. - The NCAA announced late Tuesday the student-athletes who received at-large berths into the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships and Northern Colorado junior Rachael Stevens was one who has her ticket punched to Fayetteville.

Stevens finished seventh in the high jump at the NCAA Midwest Regional after clearing 5-8.5 and earned the right to compete in the NCAA Championship after two student-athletes who finished ahead of her withdrew from high jump competition to concentrate in other events.

Stevens is the first female student-athlete since the school joined the Division I ranks to advance to the NCAA Championship, which will be held June 10-13 at the University of Arkansas. Several wrestlers have competed on the men's side for the Bears. She is also one of 11 Big Sky Conference athletes who will be competing and the only representative in the high jump.

The high jump preliminaries are scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. Central, while finals are set to begin on Friday, June 12 at 4:00 p.m. Central.
