Cross Country Teams Fourth and Sixth at Colorado State Classic![]() Complete Men's
Results FORT COLLINS, Colo. - At the annual Colorado State Cross County Classic, the Northern Colorado women's and men's cross country teams finished fourth and sixth, respectively. The women tallied 109, while the men's squad scored 259 points. Running basically at home, junior Denise Kintzley led the Bears, finishing 12th overall in 19:35.1 over the five-kilometer race. Senior Kellie Callahan rounded out an extremely talented top 15, clocking in at 19:51.0. Senior Erin Apsey (20:30.2), freshman Bridget Tiernan (20:48.4) and senior Rachel Forrest (21:00.3) all finished among the top 30 as they placed 23rd, 26th and 28th, respectively. Jacqeuline Lomax (32nd, 21:19.7) and Allie Sojourner (36, 21:26.4) were also among the top seven finishers. The men's team was competing without several of its top runners as both Dylan Hedges and Danny Sojka did not compete. Freshman David McClelland, also competing at home, paced the men after running a 22:20.5 over the four mile course to finish 43rd. Senior Joe Pummer was also among the top 50 as he placed 47th in 23:07.7. Sophomore Matt Belasco (53rd, 23:39.3), and freshmen Brandon Garcia (57, 24:18.9) and Terrence Casias (59, 25:51.7) rounded out the Bears' scoring, while Cody Harper (62, 28:20.1) also competed on the men's side. The Bears' will take a break from competition until Oct. 3 when they run in the annual Rocky Mountain Shootout, hosted by the University of Colorado.
