State Classic Men's Results Fort Collins, COLO. - The University of Northern Colorado cross country teams were both in Fort Collins this morning for the Colorado State Classic, where the women's team finished fourth with 130 points and the men's team placed sixth with 246 points.
The women were led for the second straight meet by junior Brianna Spletstoser, who this week completed the five-kilometer course in 20:10.4 to finish 21st overall. Colleen Sanderlin placed 23rd overall with a time of 20:25.2, while Katie Wiederholt finished 26th after crossing the tape in 20:38.0. Rounding out the scoring for the Bears were Jacqueline Lomax in 27th (20:43.7) and Denise Kintzley in 33rd (21:15.1).
Freshman Daniel Sojka led the Bears for the second consecutive meet, placing 28th in 22:06.2 over the four-mile course. Ben Corchado was the second Bear to cross the tape, clocking a 23:44.9 for 52nd, while Travis Stanford was right behind him in 53rd with a time of 23:59.7. Billy Davenport finished 55th with a time of 24:06.6 and rounding out the scoring was Joe Slack in 58th with a time of 25:36.5.
Also competing for Northern Colorado women, but not figuring in the scoring were: Allison McIntire (34th place, 21:21.0); Kellie Callahan (37, 21:36.5); Erin Apsey (39, 22:03.1); April Casados (40, 22:04.5); Emily Hartman (41, 22:08.3); Rachel Forrest (44, 22:13.8); Kyra Cyphers (50, 23:15.4) and Chavonne Bowers (53, 23.57.6)
Adams State won the men's race with a perfect 15 points, sweeping the top five places, while host Colorado State was second with 59 points, Black Hills State was third scoring 80, Metro State was fourth with 121 points, Colorado College placed fifth with a score of 159 and the Bears were sixth tallying 246 points.
The Rams won the women's race with 24 points, while Adams State was a close second with 31. Black Hills State finished third with 98 points while the Bears scored 130 for fourth. In fifth was Metro State with 153 points, while Colorado College scored 178 for sixth.
