Wes Sells
Joining the staff in August 2007, Wes Sells is the program's
pitching coach. He joins the Bears from Saint Louis University.
In three years with the Billikens, Sells guided the pitching
staff to some of the lowest ERAs in school history and the
program's lowest (4.24) since the 1977 team posted a mark of 4.09.
The staff's combined effort helped the Billikens reach their first
NCAA Tournament since 1966.
Sells began his coaching career at his alma mater, Fort Hays
State University, as a student assistant in 2002. Sells coached
2003 at Rend Lake College, where he was responsible for pitchers
and outfielders and helped with recruiting. In 2004, he spearheaded
the recruiting effort in addition to his pitching duties at Fort
Scott Community College. Sells also served as the pitching coach
for the Bluff City Bombers, a wooden bat collegiate team based in
Bethalto, Ill., that summer.
A native of Arvada, Colo., Sells played at Arvada West. After a
successful high school career, Sells played two seasons at Seward
County Community College, where he was a second-team All-Conference
selection in 1997. After a year at Southern Mississippi, Sells
completed his career at Fort Hays in 2001, earning second-team
All-Conference and honorable mention All-Region honors.
Sells graduated from Fort Hays in 2002 with a bachelor of
science in physical education.
