Post-Game Notes vs Idaho State

Northern Colorado Post-Game Notes * vs Idaho State, Oct. 11, 2008

  • Senior linebacker Joe Kenney recovered one of Idaho State's four fumbles, giving him six for his career, which ties him for eighth all-time with Tyrone Adams (1988-91) and Reed Doughty (2002-05).
  • Northern Colorado scored its first safety since 2001, getting its first of two on the day with 12:58 remaining in the first quarter.
  • With two interceptions on the day, sophomore safety Max Hewitt now has six for his career, and his second today saved an Idaho State touchdown as he picked the pass on the one-yard line.
  • Junior running back DC Wilson rushed for a career-most 125 yards and had his longest carry as a Bear, a 75-yard touchdown run with 12:59 on the clock in the second quarter. Wilson, on his birthday, rushed for the most yards since Andre Wilson went for 136 in the 2006 season finale against Northern Arizona.
  • Wilson's 75-yard touchdown rush was the fourth scoring play this year for 75 or more yards by Northern Colorado, as Brandon Smith scored on a 75-yard pass and an 80-yard run against Texas State and Quincy Wofford returned a kickoff 100-yards against Northern Arizona.
  • Wilson also became the first player to rush for 100 yards or more in a game since David Woods rushed for 102 at Eastern Washington on Nov. 3, 2007.
  • Quincy Wofford tallied his second interception of the season and fourth of his career, while Myles Hayes picked off his second pass of his career.
  • John Eddy, playing in his first game in 2008, recorded a sack for loss of eight yards, giving him at least one sack in each of his last four contests.
  • The 265 rushing yards by Northern Colorado was the most since the Bears rushed for 446 against Adams State on Oct. 25, 2003.
  • The Northern Colorado defense held Idaho State to just 25 rushing yards, the first time since Nov. 17, 2007 they held an opponent to less than 100 yards in a game.
  • The three safeties in the game tied the FCS record for safeties in a contest, tying both Alabama State vs Albany State (1988) and Davidson vs Drake (2007).
