Replacing the first-ever First Team All-Conference pick in school history is never an easy task and that lands on the shoulders of second year coach David Walker as he loses tight end Ryan Chesla to graduation.

Walker returns Andrew Emmerling, who started a pair of contests a year ago, as well as Sam Sewell and Larry Barker, along with several others with much anticipated talent.

Walker joined the Bears after spending last three seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas.

Prior to The Colony, Walker spent one season each at Navasota High School and Port Arthur Memorial High School, both in Texas. He worked with the quarterbacks at both high schools. At Memorial, he coached Donovan Porterie, the current starting quarterback at the University of New Mexico.

Walker began his collegiate playing days at Northwestern State on the gridiron, but injuries cut his football career short. He turned his attention to baseball and concluded his collegiate career at West Virginia, earning a bachelor's degree in English in 2003.

Walker and his wife Ashley made the move to Greeley, where she is also employed by the University of Northern Colorado.
