NAPA VALLEY - The Northern Colorado men's golf team is battling hard against both opponents and the elements to move up the rankings at the Drake Spring Invitational.  The Bears have moved up one spot to fourth after two rounds of play and have carded an overall score of 634 (318,316).

"We battled tough, windy conditions early, and then rain came late in the round," Head Coach Chuck Scheinost said.  "Not only are we battling the tough conditions but a tough course as well."

Despite the bad weather, the Bears have been led so far by the consistent play of Rich Lash.  Lash's first and second rounds were identical as the senior posted a 77 for round two tying him in ninth heading into round three.

Sophomore Steve Bidne followed closely in round two as he shot a 78.  Bidne leaves round two in 16^th place, tallying an overall score of 158.

Freshman Kory Harrell and redshirt sophomore Ryan Boshoven find themselves side by side after two rounds of play.  Harrell and Boshoven are tied for 20^th posting overall scores of 161.

Sophomore Alberto Dell'Anna improved two strokes from his first round score.  Dell'Anna carded an 81 in the second round placing him in 26^th with an overall score of 164 (83, 81).

"We're looking forward to going out there tomorrow and putting up a round we know we are capable of," Scheinost said.

South Dakota State University leads the tournament after two rounds combining for an overall score of 607 (307, 300).

The Bears will play round three of the Drake Spring Invitational on Tuesday the 17^th in Napa Valley, California.
