EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Northern Colorado men's golf team battled through windy and wet conditions in its last tournament of the season, but came up short this weekend at the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.  The Bears finished the weekend in eighth overall carding a 66 over par 786 (328, 307, 151) after a shortened third round due to the weather.

Leading the Bears was sophomore Steve Bidne who had high hopes for the tournament after the front nine of the first round.  Bidne led the pack at three under through the front nine of the first round and would finish the round at with a tally of 75.  The sophomore held the team up in terms of scoring finishing with a 12 over 192 and tied for 23^rd.

Another underclassman leading the way was freshman Kory Harrell.  Harrell started off slow carding an 84 in round one, but would pick things up drastically in the second round carding a 74, improving ten strokes from round to round.  On the back nine of the shortened round three the freshman would card a 38 leaving him at 16 over par and tied for 34^th with a final score of 196.

Making a tremendous jump for the Bears was sophomore Alberto Dell' Anna.  After carding an 84 in round one, the sophomore bounced back and improved 12 strokes to card a 75 in round two.  Dell' Anna would go on to tally a 37 in the shortened third round to leave him at 19 over par and tied for 40^th with an overall score of 199.

Senior Rich Lash also saw a great second round carding a 79 just after carding an 85 in round one.  Lash left the tournament tied in 45^th at 22 over par with a final score of 202.

Redshirt sophomore Ryan Boshoven carded final score of 207 with his best round coming in the second with an 81.  Boshoven shot an 84 in round one and shot a 42 in the shortened round three leaving him in 53^rd at 27 over par.

The individual winner of the Fossum Invitational was the Michigan State's Payne Gniewek who finished with a 3 under 177 (69, 71, 37).  Taking the top spot as a team was Michigan State who finished 33 strokes ahead of second place at 6 under par with a final score of 714 (289, 286, 139).
