"Bidne is Co-Newcomer of the Year" (April 28, 2008)

OGDEN, Utah --
Make it two-for-two for Northern Colorado's Stephen Bidne.

The sophmore men's golfer from St. Paul, Minn., was honored recently as a second-team member of this year's All-America Sky Conference postseason team. Bidne was the league's Co-Newcomer of the Year as a freshman last season.

"Stephen had some great performances for us this season," Northern Colorado coach Chuck Scheinost said. "He was one of our better players, and his play brought out the best in the rest of our team. We will continue to expect big things from him moving forward."

Bidne was obviously one of the Bears' top performers on the links this season, with his best individual showing coming in mid-March at the Drake Spring Invitational, where he finished tied for eighth with a 72-hole total of 232.

He also placed in a tie for 23rd (192 - 45 holes) in late April at the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., and tied for 30th (225) in mid-February at the Rice Intercollegiate tournament in Houston.

In fall play, Bidne finished in sole possession of eighth place at the America Sky Conference Championship in late September, when he carded a 36-hole total of 150. And that performance followed a 13th-place showing (213) at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Denver.

This is the second year of NCAA affiliation for the America Sky Golf Conference, which includes Binghamton, Hartford, Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, Texas-Pan American, Utah Valley and Weber State.
