Women's Golf In 12th After Two Rounds at Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

CHANDLER, Ariz. - After two rounds of play the Northern Colorado
women's golf team is right in the middle of things in
12th place at 68 over par and an overall tally 644 (323,
321) at the third annual Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
Leading the Bears is senior Heather Daviner who has had an
impressive first two rounds. Daviner is at 10 over par in
13th place with an overall score of 154. After
shooting a 78 in round one, the senior came back shot two strokes
better in round two. Daviner is a mere eight strokes back
from the leader of the tournament.
Following directly behind Daviner is freshman Ali Nelson.
Nelson is tied in 25th at 13 over par, and shot an
overall score of 157 through the first two.
The greatest individual improvement for the Bears belongs to
redshirt senior Katie Avery. After tallying an 87 in round
one, Avery bounced back and shot an 81 in round two improving six
strokes. The senior is tied for 77th at 24 over par, with an
overall score of 168.
Hand in hand with Avery is sophomore Abby McNeley who is also
tied in 77th with an overall score of 168 (82, 86).
The most consistent rounds belong to freshman Chelsea Silvers
who is tied in 82nd. Silvers shot identical rounds
of 85 giving her a score of 170 at 26 over par.
Northern Arizona leads the pack at 29 over par with an overall
score of 605 (309, 296). The individual leader is Northern
Arizona's Bethany Leclair at just 2 over par carding a 146 (77,
69).
The Bears will play round three on Tuesday beginning at 7:30
with a shotgun start.
