Bears Defeat Cowgirls For First Time

delay, Northern Colorado came out with a last minute goal to defeat
the Wyoming Cowgirls for the first time in program history. The
Bears now move to 2-2-0 on the season. Wyoming moves to 2-2-0 as
well.
Northern Colorado was outshot in the game 17-8 but the Bears
stayed with Wyoming throughout the match. Leading the Bears in
shots was freshman Kimmie Fiedler who recorded 3 shots with one on
goal.
Freshman Kirsten Salminen was in goal for the Bears and recorded
6 saves on the evening four of them coming in the first half
keeping the game tied up at 0-0.
The game remained scoreless up to the last minute of the match.
Northern Colorado was awarded a free kick and sent the ball into
the box. After some scrambling for the ball in front of the goal
freshman Janelle Kramer took position and passed to freshman Ariel
Cook. At 89:02 Cook got her knee on the ball and got it past
Wyoming goalkeeper Jamie Scarcliff.
This is the second goal this season for Cook who also scored the
game winning goal for the Bears against Air Force.
The Bears now travel to face Utah Valley on Sept. 4 and Utah
State on Sept. 6. before coming home to host the Northern Colorado
tournament on Sept. 12 and 14.
