Northern Colorado Set to Host Clarion Inn Classic


Northern Colorado Soccer is set to host the first Clarion Inn Northern Colorado Classic this weekend as three teams from across the country come to Jackson Stadium. The Bears, Oregon State, North Florida and Rider are slated to play on Friday and Sunday Northern Colorado's first tournament of the year.

Opening up the tournament is Oregon State and North Florida. Oregon State, who is currently 3-1 on the season, finished the 2007 season at 7-10-3 and plays North Florida in both teams' first meeting.

North Florida out of Jacksonville, Fla. comes into the tournament at 1-2-1 in 2008. The Ospreys tallied an 8-11-1 record last season in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Northern Colorado will go up against the Rider Broncs at 7 p.m. on Friday in the second first meeting of the day. Rider has a 1-3-1 record coming into the match while the Bears bring a 2-4-0 record.

The tournament will continue on Sunday starting with Rider and North Florida at 10 a.m. and Northern Colorado matching up with Oregon State at 1:30 p.m.

The Bears have not hosted a tournament since the Best Western Classic in 2004.
