Soccer Falls To UTEP
Northern Colorado soccer fell 3-1 to the UTEP Miners today
in the Bears final match at the UTEP Border Shootout. This moves
the Bears to 5-5-0 on the season.
UTEP struck first deep into the first half with a goal from
Chelsea Winbush in the 33rd minute to put the game at
1-0. Only six minutes later the Miners scored again, this time from
Courtney Casey off of an assist from Winbush to get the game
winning goal.
Right before the end of the first half senior Jessica Zimmerman
put up Northern Colorado's only goal of the game. Zimmerman went
one on one with the goalkeeper, who came off the line to attempt
the save. Zimmerman then tapped in the unassisted goal at 44:55.
The final goal for the Miners came in the 55th minute
when Brandi Aston received the double assist from Melissa Desilets
and Casey to get the shot past freshman goalkeeper Kirsten
Salminen.
The Bears will now move on to face UNLV on Sept. 25 and Southern
Utah on Sept. 27.
