SCORE
GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado soccer wrapped up the
weekend with a 1-0 loss to Montana on Sunday at Jackson Stadium,
dropping the Bears to 5-10-1 on the season and 1-5-0 in the Big
Sky. Montana improved to 2-3-1 in the Big Sky with the win.
The Bears played a solid first half, outshooting the Griz 6-3,
but couldn't manage to find the goal.
Montana took the lead in the 33rd minute when Abby Grafft took a
free kick into the box and, after a struggle for position, the ball
was deflected into the net just out of reach of Bears sophomore
goalkeeper Kirstin Salminen.
The game remained held up at 1-0 going into the second half
before Northern Colorado put pressure on Montana. The Bears went
after the ball and aggressively outshot the Grizzlies 15-3 and
forced two saves by Montana keeper Alex Fisher.
Although the Bears had many break away runs at the goal,
Northern Colorado was not able to make up the difference in the
loss.
Northern Colorado will wrap up its season next week when it
takes on Northern Arizona at 7 p.m Friday, Oct. 30, at
Jackson Stadium.
