Women's swimmers gain good experience in San Diego

SAN DIEGO -- Northern Colorado's women's swimming and diving team got some good experience against top-notch competition Saturday, Jan. 31, in a four-team dual meet at the Aztec Aquaplex at San Diego State University and at the Cadet Natatorium in Air Force Academy, Colo. 

The Bears swam against San Diego, San Diego State and Wyoming and dove against San Diego State and Wyoming. Northern Colorado was unable to get a victory in any of the duals, however, falling 213-49 against the Toreros, 246-54 to the Aztecs and 243-56 against the Cowgirls.

Junior Sarah Cook had the Bears' best overall finish Saturday, coming in third in the 1-meter diving competition (245.50). Sophomore Tori Gutt had the Bears' best swimming finish,  coming in fourth in the final of the 200-yard breaststroke in two minutes, 23. 43 seconds. Senior Chesney Randolph swam to a fifth-place finish in the 200 back (2:09.41) and a sixth-place finish in the 200 indivudual medley (2:11.72).

Northern Colorado's 200 medley relay team (senior Sammy Haus, senior Whitney Dahms, freshman Hannah Halstrom and junior Alexis Glessner) came in seventh in 1:55 even, and Bears freshman Amanda Donegan also came in seventh in the 1000 free (10:52.36).

Next up for Northern Colorado will be the Conference USA championships, from Feb. 25 to 28 in Houston.
