Women's tennis falls flat against Montana StateRESULTS: vs. Montana State GREELEY, Colo. -- Senior Tabatha Knop had a relatively easy day Friday afternoon against Montana State. None of the other Bears, however, were able to break through for victories in the Bears' 6-1 conference loss to the Bobcats at Work Out West. Knop (No. 1 singles) got a 6-2, 6-4 win against MSU's Stephanie Jasper and, paired with Manuela Santos pulled out an 8-2 win at the No. 1 doubles spot Friday. No other Northern Colorado player scored points in the match as the Bears fell to 6-12 on the season and 4-4 in the Big Sky. Montana State improved to 8-8 overall and 4-1 in the league. Santos (No. 2 singles) came the closest of the rest of the Northern Colorado players to getting a win, coming up short, 7-5, 7-6, against Missy Harris. In doubles play, the Bears' tandem of Jill Kappel and Jennifer Whateley fought hard but fell short, 9-7, versus Laura Villegas and McKenzie Hilmer. Northern Colorado will next be in action Sunday, April 5, when it hosts Wyoming. |
