SHOWDOWN: Volleyball welcomes in Portland St., Eastern Washington

SOME STORYLINES:
- There’s been hype around this weekend’s matches
since the beginning of the season, and all three teams involved
have kept up their end of the bargain. The Bears, Vikings and
Eagles are all 5-1 in the Big Sky and tied for first.
- NC’s history with Portland State is decidedly bent in the
Vikings’ favor. The Bears are 3-12 all-time against PSU and
just 1-6 in seven Big Sky meetings. That lone victory came last
year in Greeley, though. Can they make it two in row?
- The Bears were pushed to five games before downing winless
Montana State last Friday and then allowed Montana to hit a
season-high .302 against them in a Saturday-night loss. NC knows a
better effort will be required this weekend.
- Northern Colorado will face PSU and EWU in its final two
regular-season matches this year, so getting a leg up and taking
them each down at home first would be huge. A 2-0 record against
them would have the Bears in the driver’s seat.
